Armed fulani herdsmen should be branded as criminals – Sultan of Sokoto
The Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council is presently in a meeting with its Southern counterparts to deliberate on thorny issues affecting the peace and unity of the country.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar who is the chairman of the council in his address said the meeting will discuss issues on farmers/herdsmen clashes, killing of innocent women and children and the general insecurity in the country.
He emphasised that those picking up arms are criminals and be branded as such by any serious government.
He called on his Southern counterparts to tell them what they think should be done to make life better with a view to ensuring peace and security in the country.
On his part, the chairman, Enugu state Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu said, “I look forward to when traditional rulers of Northern Nigeria will put their weight behind the demand of additional state in the region.”
