EFCC Searches Shehu Sani’s Residence
The sudden allegation against a former Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani has refused to go away.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) searched his houses in Abuja on Wednesday, according to Thecable’s report.
Quoting a source and one of his aides, Suleiman Ahmed confirmed that two of the Senator’s houses in Abuja were ransacked by the agency.
He said, “The started the search at the Maitama residence of the senator before heading to Wuse 2.”
It was gathered that the anti-graft agency arrived at Sani’s Maitama’s house around 14.00hrs and later moved to his Wuse residence at 15.30hrs.
Sani was arrested last week by the EFCC over alelged extortion.
The Senator represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District between 2015 and 2019.
Sani is accused of collecting money from the owner of ASD Motors, Sani Dauda promising to pass it on to the Acting Chairman of the Anti-graft Agency, Ibrahim Magu.
He is also accused of making false promise to Dauda to assit in influencing the outcome of some cases using his connections with the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The CJN had distance himself from the Senator, saying he has never had any prior connection with him.
Sani accusation came barely 24 hours after his criticism against the Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari gained nationwide publication.
Sani had said Nigerians will face more hardship under Buhari, adding that the President couldn’t turn the country around even if given another 50 years.
