Ganduje Bans Almajiri System In Kano
A northern governor, the governor of Kano State has officially announced the abolishment of the traditional Almajiri system of education in the state.
This is after he completed the arrangements to enrol all repatriated Almajiri children into a former educational system.
The governor, Abdullahi Ganduje made this known during one of his media briefing on COVID-19.
Ganduje disclosed that the state had received more than 1000 Almajiri children from various states in the northern region.
It could be recalled that the Kano government had also repatriated more than 1,170 Almajiri children to other states of origin.
More recently, this Almajirai, all about 2000 of them where quarantine for two weeks after the state commenced the repatriation exercise.
Despite not finding any positive cases among the Almajirai, the Kano government has taken extra steps to halt the Almajiri system of education.
Ganduje assured that his state will continue to repatriate Almajiri from other states of origin, according to his statement on Wednesday.
Ganduje called on all residents to remain calm and continue to observe all safety precautions to prevent further spread of the pandemic which the government says is reducing drastically.
