Osifo Okieguale from Eguare Opoji, Ekpoma died in police custody because his sister couldn’t afford to pay the sum of N20,000 allegedly demanded by the police from Ekpoma Division, Edo State.
Okieguale, 47 is married with kids.
He woke up on the 9th of February like every other day and did not return home to his family.
The Police arrested Okieguale alongside his 14-year-old cousin in Ekpoma.
The problem started with a motorcycle. Okieguale asked his cousin to ride his bike back home but he was arrested by the policemen at the Ekpoma division. He told them the bike belonged to his uncle who was later invited to the station and detained too.
His elder sister came to the Police Station to facilitate his bail but the IPO allegedly demanded the sum of N20,000
His sister pleaded with the IPO to collect the sum of N15,000 but he blatantly refused to collect.
She was said to have left the station in frustration and came back two days later only to be told that her brother died in police custody on the 12th.
