Nigeria Soldier Fighting Boko Haram Electrocuted in Battlefield

A captain in the Nigeria army was electrocuted while fighting Boko Haram terrorists on Thursday.

Premium Times reports that the incident happened in Damaturu, Yobe State Capital.

The Captain who was fighting alongside his colleagues died after a live power cable fell on him while repelling Boko Haram attack.

Boko Haram fighters attacked Damaturu around 4.40 p.m from Gashua, another Yobe community just the north of Damaturu, PT quotes a military source.

Residents ran for their lives while the troops from the Nigerian Army 233 Battalion, responded along with a contingent of police officers.

The troops finally repel the terrorists at 6.05 p.m.

Premium Times confirms the incident through the Nigerian Army 27 Task Force Brigade.

According to a spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, PT says, confirmed the incident on Friday evening.

The spokesman said the soldiers destroyed one of the terrorist vehicles.

The incident comes as the military was announcing that 24 suspected Boko Haram members of the Islamic State faction had surrendered.

Eight among the surrendered terrorists were women and were taken into custody after allegedly confessing to being members of the terrorist group.
