Osun Poly hands over suspected cultists to police
Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has handed four suspected cultists to the police, alleging that they attempted to forcefully initiate three students.
A statement by the Director, Media Unit of the institution, Mr Tope Abiola, on Sunday said the suspects were caught in Iree while trying to initiate the students.
The statement gave the names of the suspects as Lawrence Ajayi, Olorode Hammed, Olabisi Afis, and Hammed Akindele.
It said the three victims, whose names were not disclosed for security reasons, are students of the polytechnic.
The statement read in part, “The suspects were handed over to the police by the institution’s management after they were apprehended and interrogated by the Student’s Disciplinary Committee on Friday.”
According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended in Iree and Obaagun after separate raids by members of the SDC, who acted on a tip-off.
Abiola said Akindele, a Year-II National Diploma student of Business Administration of the polytechnic, had been promptly expelled by the polytechnic.
He added that the other three suspects had no records of studentship with the school, adding that the institution would leave no stone unturned checking cultism.
