Trouble as cattle takes over runway at Akure airport
While Nigerians are yet to come to term with the problem of cattle invasion led by Fulani herdsmen, an Air Peace Flight was stopped from landing as cow took over the runway of the Akure airport in Ondo State.
According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the airplane taking off from Lagos to Akure was held down for several minutes.
It was reported that not until the officers of the aviation security department dispersed the cows, normalcy did not return.
FAAN said the aircraft was cleared for landing after several minutes.
The department apologised to the passengers and the general public for the embarrassing incident.
“The Authority will like to assure travellers and the general public that efforts are already ongoing to close the gap that aided this incident,” it said.
