APC Crisis Deepens As Defection Hits Party
The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state has deepened as an aide to Abiola Ajimobi, the immediate past Governor of the state, Deji Aboderin has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Hon. Deji Aboderin was the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the Ibadan Southeast/Northeast Federal House of Representatives in Oyo State during the 2019 general election.
Aboderin who was the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former Governor Abiola Ajimobi announced his defection on Sunday during a press conference.
He blamed the leadership of the APC for the poor performance of the party in Oyo state, including his failure to win the House of Representatives election in 2019.
“I have consulted my constituency, I have consulted my local government, I have also consulted my supporters. As far as I am concerned, if this young Governor Seyi Makinde is doing well, he has done somethings within a year and there are ongoing projects still coming.
He added that as a firm believer in education, he could see the effort of Governor Seyi Makinde in the area of education, noting that the governor has pumped in huge resources in the sector.
The defection of Deji Aboderin did not come as a surprise as the party in the state has been in disarray following the party’s loss in the governorship election of 2019, where even the then outgoing governor, Abiola Ajimobi failed to win a Senatorial election.
