This is certainly not the best of times for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Osagie Ize-Iyamu, as his family members have rallied support for Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki.
The family members on Saturday rejected the candidacy of Ize-Iyamu and backed Godwin Obaseki, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP)
Mr. Osazee Ize-Iyamu, who spoke on behalf of the family of the All Progressives Congress Candidate in Benin City, the Edo state capital, said that “the Governorship candidate of the (APC) Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has too much baggage that compromise his candidacy for the forthcoming gubernatorial polls in the state.”
“There have been sufficient proof in the last three years and eight months that Governor Godwin Obaseki is the best and right man for the job.”
He added that the family has reached a decision without sentiment and unanimously believed that Obaseki is the right man for the job, adding that Ize-Iyamu is no match for the governor.
“The family is not sentimental about their decision and stand in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State. We are unanimous about this and let it be known that Governor Obaseki is our preferred Governorship candidate at this time. Osagie Ize-Iyamu, compared to the technocrat governor, is no match, by any standards.”
He noted that base on basic infrastructure provided by governor Obaseki led state government, it has no choice but to rally behind the governor.
The family added that, “ Governor Godwin Obaseki has fixed roads that lead to our houses without asking questions about the people living in such neighborhoods. The public schools in our areas are looking better than private schools in the State and we have not had a single strike by workers in the state under the governor.
He went further stating that even retired family members of the Ize-Iyamu family have benefited greatly from Governor Obaseki policy implementation.
“More importantly, members of the Ize-Iyamu family who are retirees have been receiving their monthly pension without stress under Obaseki.
