Edo State APC has two groups: The group faithful to the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and the other faithful to the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Many had hypothesized that Obaseki intended to abandon APC to another party, while some additionally said he will get the Ambode treatment.

On Sunday, a cousin to Godwin Obaseki unveiled to NAIJA CENTER NEWS that Obaseki has control of the functions of the APC in Edo State, including that there was no chance he would be unable to get past primaries.

“95% of Delegates are All Ward & LGA controlled, 26 ward exco members of all 192 wards in Edo State (4992 delegates) Plus 26 LGA exco members of all 18 LGAs in Edo State. (468 delegates) Plus About 30 State exco members. Plus all elected Councillors, LocalGovt Chairmen, and inaugurated House of Assembly, Reps, Senators, and Governor and deputy who are APC members.” he told NAIJA CENTER.

Oshiomhole won’t be able to stop Obaseki’s re-election, his cousin told our journalist. He said “Who controls the wards? And got Adams suspended at that level? Who controls the LGAs? Who controls the State Exco led by Ojezua? Who controls the House of Assembly members (members-elect ARE NOT MEMBERS)?”

Members of the Edo Peoples Movement (EPM) have ceaselessly blamed the governor for ignoring and abandoning the leadership of the party in Edo State. A considerable lot of the contention revolved around his alleged horrible performance.

However, Pedro Obaseki categorically said his brother has outperformed “all governors since the return to democracy, across all spheres”

Obaseki reiterated his earlier position that members of the EPM are after his cousin because of his “reluctance and refusal to share Edo State money to motor park touts and their circle.”
