Nobody ever thought Ike Ekweremadu would enter the fray to contest the Deputy senate Presidency, but it now seems he is in the race with Ovie Omo-Agege, senator representing Delta central.
the Senator of Enugu West senatorial district, an occupant of the position since 2011 is currently in a contest for the number two position at the Senate.
Ekweremadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the immediate past deputy senate president.
Omo-Agege, who is of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is being backed by the leadership of the ruling party.
The race was earlier touted to be between Omo Agege, Francis Alimekenah and Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Governor of Abia state.
But with Kalu, Alimekenah’s withdrawal and Tuesday’s nomination of only Omo Agege and Ekweremadu for the Deputy Senate Presidency, it is now a contest between the PDP and APC.
