Election Tribunal: Atiku Tenders 26,175 Exhibits Against Buhari, INEC
The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar and his party tendered 5, 196 exhibits against the election of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress at the Presidential election tribunal on Friday.
This amount to a total of 26, 175 exhibits tendered before the Tribunal on Thursday and Friday by Atiku’s lawyer, Livy Uzoukwu.
Atiku had dragged Buhari to Tribunal to challenge his victory of the February poll.
The PDP Presidential candidate is arguing that he pulled more votes than the candidate of the APC, Buhari.
His spokesman Paul Ibe disclosed that the exhibit tendered so far are mainly result in sheets compiled at different polling units, wards and local government in eight states: Kebbi, Borno, Jigawa, Gombe, Katsina, Bauchi, Kaduna and Partly Kano.
He said 3,378 exhibits came from Katsina; 3, 472 from Borno; 2,106 from Kebbi, 1,912 from Gombe; 3,162 from Jigawa; 3,335 from Kaduna; 3,539 from Bauchi; and 5,271 came from Kano.
The counsels representing INEC Yunus Usman, President Buhari’s counsel Mike Igbokwe and APC counsel Charles Edosomwan were said to have objected to the admissibility of the documents.
They were said to have assured the tribunal that their reasons behind the objection would be made known at the address stage of their hearings.
Uzoukwu told the tribunal that his team will begin to call witnesses after the documents have all been tendered.
The tribunal adjourned till Monday, July 8, for further hearing.
