- Rejects Imo State outcome

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Hope Uzodinma argued on Saturday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not win the governorship election held on the 9th of March in Imo State.
He rejected the outcome during a Press conference in Owerri, the capital of the state.
He claimed the election was rigged in favour of the PDP candidate, adding that the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was not acceptable.
The governorship candidate argued that he was the rightful winner of the election, contrary to the INEC declaration.
Uzodinma said everything was positioned to favour his PDP candidate, arguing that he conceded defeat by congratulating the governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha.
Uzodinma said, “APC clearly won the election. The result as announced by INEC is unacceptable to me and the APC. The Retuning officer for Ezinihitte Mbaise is from Ezinhitte Mbaise, the Retuning officer for Aboh Mbaise is from Aboh Mbaise and the Returning officer for Ahiazu Mbaise is from Ahiazu Mbaise.”
Meanwhile, the Governor, Rocha Okorocha said the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and Uzodimma were responsible for the defeat the APC suffered in the election.
He said prosperity would judge the two for their alleged roles in the election.
Okorocha, according to NAN’s report, claimed Uzodimma was the first to celebrate with Ihedioha after he was declared winner, citing a video of the two contestants as proof of his guilt.
“We had maintained that Chief Uzodinma was just a mole in the APC and today, the governorship election in the state and its outcome have obviously vindicated us, aside from the fact that a video of Chief Uzodinma’s celebration with Ihedioha has gone viral on the social media.”
“Chief Uzodinma succeeded through Adams Oshiomhole to ensure that only his supporters were made agents of the party, from the list he sent from Abuja to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
“Unfortunately, none of Uzodinma’s and Oshiomhole’s approved agents were seen either at the ward, local government or at the state level; they didn’t care about the election and its outcome.
“At the end of the day, the APC candidate came fourth. And he has been celebrating with the PDP candidate.”
“Their target as it has been shown now is to totally destroy APC in the South-East and in Imo in particular, thereby authenticating the claim in some quarters that it is all about 2023.
“We had equally maintained the contention that Imo people would not vote for Uzodinma because they know him very well, but Oshiomhole refused to listen.
