The Edo State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Chris Azebamwen has released a notice to inform members of a change of venue.

The APC faction, against all odds, is expected to receive some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, including a former governorship candidate of the opposition Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu who defected to the APC of recent.

Due to the crisis rocking the Edo Chapter of the APC, Governor Godwin Obaseki’s government has claimed it is not aware of the planned rally scheduled to hold on Friday.

The State government, in addition, also warned of the security challenges such a rally might pose.

The government instructed the Ministry of Education to issue a warning to all institutions not to allow its compound to be used for such a rally that might create security challenges in the state.

In a rapid response, Mr Azebamwen urged members to be calm as a new venue will be communicated shortly.

“It has been brought to our notice that the Edo State Government through the Ministry of Education has directed that political rallies shouldn’t be held in private schools across the state, in view of security concerns in the state.

“n response to this, we will like to state that concerns are duly noted and we would like to caution party members across the state to remain calm, as arrangements are being made to secure a new venue for the declaration rally for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who is leading his hoard of supporters from People Democratic Party (PDP) to our fold.

“A new venue for the rally will be communicated soon.

“We will like to categorically state that no amount of muzzling can stop an idea whose time has come. We appeal to members of the party to exercise restraints as we finalize the modalities at the new venue, which will be announced soon.”

The rally is expecting to have in attendeance the Vice President of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo and the deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Omo-Agege.

Whether the state government will be bold enough to disrupt the rally as alleged in the presence of these dignitaries is another issue entirely.

If Obaseki, who is currently in company of General Muhammadu Buhari in Egypt could co-ordinate such a move, it might be interpreted as a repraissal as this won’t be the first time dignataries witness such violence.

NAIJA CENTER reported the violence that broke out weeks ago in Edo North, Iyamoh, the home of the National Chairman where Obaseki, the deputy governor, Philip Shaibu were attacked in the presence of their guests, the Oba of Lagos.

Who to be the godfather of Edo State has continued to create division in Edo State APC as the former couple, the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole and Godwin Obaseki test power.

The sudden defection of Ize-Iyamu to the APC is of the belief that Oshiomhole is planning to accord Obaseki the “Ambode treatment”, a similar event in Lagos State which saw the ousting of then-governor.

Obaseki, who worked closely with Oshiomhole and perhaps, learned few tricks of his own is making efforts to check-mate his former boss in a bid to secure second term ticket.

Both factions are capable of causing destructions, but the Edo people might bear the brunt of the duo insensitivities. It’s a battle between the hawk and the prey, where the prey is yet to be known.

A group, Edo Peoples Movement formed by many aggrieved members of the APC who accused the governor of neglect and disregard is championing Obaseki’s replacement
